He is survived by: his wife Betty Ellen Spitler; his children, Cheryl Hancher Kidd (Gary) of Asheboro, NC, Jeffrey Hancher (Katherine) of LaPlata, MD and Cynthia Hancher Diehl (David) of Ashland, VA; his brothers, Robert Hancher of Pinellas Park, FL and Boyd Hancher (Jean Ann) of Griffin, GA; and his siblings-in-law, J. P. Spitler, Jr. (Betty Ann) of Singers Glen, VA and Mary Etta Spitler-Seger of Linville, VA..
