She was predeceased by: her parents, Nellie Stewart Lawrence and John Lawrence; her husband Clarence Smith; her siblings, Mary Lawrence, Mae Johnson, Adele Harris, Inez Ivey, Henrietta Ball, Myrtle Johnson, Thomas, Israel and Alexander Lawrence; her daughter Thomasine Thompson; her grandchildren, Kimberly Smith and John Smith, Jr.; and her great grandchildren, Lakia Owens and Zane Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Thomas Saxon (Ruby), Patricia Gray, Clara Brooks (Paul), John Smith (Dianne), Timothy Smith and Phyllis Smith; her son-in-law Bernard Thompson; her godson Alexander Statesman; her adoptive sons, Gary Lash and Dustin Parker; her close friend Johnie Brown; and her friends, Susan Hall, Larry Trossbach, Robert Parker and Mae Gross. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren.
