He was predeceased by: his mother Stella M. Newcomer (Bricker); and his siblings, William H. Newcomer, Jr., Theodore O. "Teddy" Newcomer and Barbara A. Walker (Newcomer). He is survived by: his father William H. Newcomer; his wife Virginia E. Newcomer (Betts); his children, Terry Wile (Jill) of Cascade, MD, Richard Newcomer, Jr. (Janey) of Greencastle, PA, Paul Newcomer of Waynesboro, PA, Angela Hess (Anthony) of Frederick, MD and Jennifer Morrow-Ocasio (Onix) of Kingsport, TN; and his sisters, Delores A. "Dee" Wood of Waynesboro, JoAnn L. Tracey of Waynesboro, Florence D. Tracey of Smithsburg, MD and Patricia A. "Patti" Bowie of Rouzerville, PA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home (50 S Broad St, Waynesboro, PA 17268). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in Richard's memory.
