He was predeceased by: his parents, John G. Gunkel and Gertrude Huhn Gunkel. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hall Gunkel; his children, Susan Wood (Michael), Stephanie Turner (James) and Christopher Gunkel (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Kyle (Kasey), Abbie (Brendan), Sam (Abbey), Ryan, Liam and Sadie; and his great grandchildren, Jackson, Caroline and Charlotte.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Catonsville Methodist Church (6 Melvin Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228).
