He was predeceased by : his parents, Betty Ann Brooks (Hawkins) and David Johnson Hawkins, Sr.; his grandparents, Holland, Ada Hawkins, Warfield and Ethel Brooks; and his daughter Daelyn Jamiell Hawkins.

Hawkins III of San Antonio, TX, Chavonta Gibson of Glen Burnie, MD and DaJuan Young of Hanover, MD; his siblings, James Brown of Centreville, MD, Anthony Lugo of San Antonio, TX, Kenny Wright of Cape May, NJ, Ricky Matthews of Baltimore, MD, Doris Hawkins of San Antonio, TX, Nicky Knight of Colorado, Tasha Knight of Colorado, Holly Knight of Colorado and Jennifer Matthews of Cape May, NJ; his grandchildren, Lorenzo Jennings, David J. Hawkins IV, Davian L. Farmer, Dezmond J. Farmer, Tiana E. Hawkins-Elmore, Daeja J. Hawkins and Deanna J. Hawkins; his great grandchildren, Ja'Siel Nelson, Aliyah T. Jennings, Marcus D. Jennings and Lorenzo Jennings, Jr.; his uncle Archie Hawkins (Essie); his aunt Ada Scott of Wildwood, NJ; and his close friends, Shakeria Dodd, Mike Quimby and Thomas Johnson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
