He was predeceased by: his parents, Anne Morehouse Whitehill and Howard Joseph Whitehill, Jr.; and his sister Lynn Tilghman. He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Gears Whitehill; and his siblings, Stephen, Robert Whitehill and Janet Russell Hunter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
