He was predeceased by: his parents, James Jonathon Powers and Elizabeth Margaret Gunther Powers; his siblings, Melbourne Powers, John Powers, Delores Reynolds, Lavinia Powers and Sister Rosemary Powers; his son Thomas Edward Powers Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Xander Lee and Mary Kate Wiegand.
He is survived by: his brother Gerald Powers; his former wife Loretta Powers; and his children, James Powers, Robert Powers, Deborah Hutchins (Rocky), Michael Powers, Christine Wiegand (Erik), Richard Powers (Amy), Daniel Powers (Valerie), Patricia Vanschaik (David), Stephen Powers (Robynn) and Elizabeth Smith (Aaron). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
