He was predeceased by: his parents, Justus G. Campbell and Hazel Campbell (Matthews); his wife June Priest Campbell; his son Jason L. Campbell; his brother Paul A. Campbell; and his grandchildren, Jeryl E. Campbell and Kara Campbell.

He is survived by: his sons, James Campbell, Jr. (Judith) of Clear Spring, MD, Joseph A. Campbell (Cynthianna) of Clear Spring, MD and Jeremy A. Campbell (Karen) of Clear Spring, MD; and his daughter-in-law Sandra K. Campbell of New Holland, PA. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.
