Richard leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Richard’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Richard will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Louis Edwards and Birdie Davis Edwards; and his siblings, J. Louis Edwards Jr. and Mary Ann Edwards Mattingly. He is survived by: his niece Laura Ellen Roberts (Mike); and his nephews, J. Maguire "Mock" Mattingly III (Linda) and Michael Edwards Mattingly (Brenda).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home (41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). A prayer will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 7:15 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Saint Aloyisus Catholic Church (22800 Washington St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at the St. Alyosius Catholic Cemetery.
