He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Thompson and John Morgan. He is survived by: his wife Verdell Thompson (Wyche); his daughters, Velda Marie Johnson (Ross C. Johnson) and Valencia Chloe Smith; his grandchildren, Kyle Ross Johnson (Sandra Johnson) and Kayla Rhandi Smith; and his great grandchildren, Luca John Johnson and Emilia Grace Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Samuel's memory to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund at TMCF.org, continuing his lifelong belief in the power of education and opportunity.
