She was predeceased by: her parents, Edwin Talmage and Annie Louise Kirkpatrick McDowell; her husband Earl Glenn Rakes, Sr.; her son-in-law Michael L. Montgomery; and her sisters, Ethel Louise Brown and Emma Marie Crabtree.
She is survived by: her children, Earl G. Rakes, Jr. (Paula), David Rakes, Sr. (Vicki), Robin Montgomery and Joyce Brown (Rob); her grandchildren, Michael, Jr. (Malinda), Kristen (Phil), Derick (Sheila), Christi (Victor), Jacqueline (Larry), David (Sara), Jason and Tommy Dickerson; her stepgrandchildren, Albert, Amy and Richard; and her son P. A.. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; and five great step-grandchildren.
