David Palasits wrote a sympathy message

“To Pat and the entire Sylvester Family, I am sorry indeed for your loss. I met Mark in 2010 when he first participated in the Appalachia Service Project. I had the gift of his friendship and presence most recently at an O's game on 9/24/2025. The following day, he went to a game with his daughter and two of the grandkids that ended with a walk-off hit. He was a smart, insightful man of service. He loved his family deeply. I was glad to lector with him at 11:30 mass.”
