We bid farewell to George W. Redd Jr. (Crownsville, Maryland), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 23, 2025 at the age of 82. George touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wilfred Redd Sr. and Rebecca Ollie Redd; and his siblings, Theophilus and Carolease Rice. He is survived by: his friend James Jones; his wife Shirley Redd; his children, Shelly Reid (Troy), Jan Redd, Sean Redd (Johnnita) and Judie Neal; his grandchildren, Shauneca Scott, April Taylor (Maurice), Mia Savoy and Janae Redd; his great grandchildren, Ayden Howard, Caleb Howard, Nalani Howard, Anela Howard and Arri Taylor; his sisters, Elaine Redd, Beverly Randall (Thomas), Phyllis "Tee" Adams (Preston) and Venus "Renee" Venable (Herbert "Nick"); his aunts and uncles, Ophelia Williams, Murial Blake, Khalilah "Ruth" Amin and Frederick "Jack" Gilmer Jr.; and his siblings-in-law, Henry Phillip Brown, Michael Boston and Myrtle Plattenburg. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Parkinson's disease intruded and diminished his comfort in life, a time when he often joked he could now make a really good milkshake. Although Parkinson's disease made his physical health a little less comfortable, he eventually succumbed to Kidney failure when his last kidney decided it was time for him to make his final trip home.
