He was predeceased by: his parents, Barney S. McCarty, Sr. and Margaret Viola McCarty (Johnson); his wife Brenda Sharron McCarty (Divelbiss); and his siblings, John, Bernard McCarty, Mary Beeghly, Viola Mummert and Ruth Frederick.

He is survived by: his sisters, Beatrice Mitchell and Dorothy Mercer.
