It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carl Benson of Cumberland, Maryland, who passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
In the vast expanse of eternity, Carl shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Carl farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester C. Benson and Lottie I. Benson-Erickson. He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Shirey (Barry), Crystal Elrod (Donald), Carl Benson (Trina) and Cathy Holland (JT); and his close friend JoAnn Shipley. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Scarpelli Funeral Home (108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD 21502). A memorial service was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
