He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Fay Merritt and Juanita Merritt (Johnston) of Virginia; and his daughter Cheryl Lyn Mellott. He is survived by: his wife Elva Edith Merritt (Beaman); his son Randy Merritt (Pamela) of Frostburg; his grandsons, Brandon Merritt, Darick Kerns, Seth Merritt and Jeremy Miltenberger; his brother Donald E Merritt (Betsy); his niece Pamela Mayol of Wilmington, NC.; and his close friend Gary Shafer. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
