It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Frederick Smiley of Cumberland, Maryland, who passed away on July 12, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Adelbert Leydig Smiley and Gertrude "June" Smiley (Forster). He is survived by: his wife Jean O'Brien; his sons, Brett M. Smiley (Velvet) of Hillsdale, MI and Jeff Smiley of Cumberland, MD; his sisters, Nancy Hartman (Bill) of Cumberland, MD and Norma Markley (Galen) of Short Gap, WV; and his siblings' children, Candi McNamara, Misty Lindsey, Krista Jones and Johnny Markley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Adams Family Funeral Home (404 Decatur St, Cumberland, MD 21502). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21501-0566 or a charity of choice.
