He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Clair and Jane Clair Gurtler (Pratt); his significant other Donna Lindner; his daughter Mallory Jane Clair; his grandchildren, Michael Shipley, Jr. and Maislee N. Jane Crabtree; and his siblings, Curtis Bittner, Gene Bittner and Terry Simpson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Crystal Black (Jason), Amber Clair, Stephanie Clair, Kiley Clair, Christie Crippen (Billy) and Elaina Harper; and his siblings, Kim Clair-Bennett (Dave), Melody Chambers (James), Karen Croston, Marlene Eversole (Junior), Edna Robertson (Steve) and Roy Bittner. He is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
