He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Robert Ayers, Sr. and Ruth Lillian Ayers (Hansrote); his sister Catherine Jean "Cathy" Fey-Shelley; and his sister-in-law Nina Ayers. He is survived by: his sons, Kevin and Brad Lowery; his wife Mary Frances Ayers (Liller); his son John C. Ayers, Jr. (Susan); his brothers, Lewis "Lew" Ayers, Jr. (Marsha) and Edward "Eddie" Ayers (Nancy); his grandchildren, Joshua Cameron Ayers (Heather) and Samantha Megan Ayers; and his great grandchild Keaton Lewis Ayers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
