He was predeceased by: his parents, Ersal Shewbridge and Virginia Shewbridge (Andrews); and his siblings, E. J. "Jack" Shewbridge, Bob Shewbridge, David Kenney and Pam Bailey.
He is survived by: his significant other Carol; his children, Debbie and Richard "Richie" Jr.; his granddaughters, Lauren Growden (David) and Tanya Palmer (Bryan); his great grandchildren, Issac, Emory, Hunter, Ryan and Brenden; and his brother Larry Shewbridge (Betty). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Scarpelli Funeral Home (108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD 21502). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to UPMC Dialysis Center, 12502 Willowbrook Rd., Suite 250 Cumberland, MD 21502 in honor of Dick's memory.
