He was predeceased by: his wife Doris Lorraine Remsberg Shipley; his parents, Maurice Shipley and Nora Shipley; and his brother Donald Lee Shipley (Chick). He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Harman of Martinsburg and Joan Carlson (David) of Clarksburg, Maryland; his grandchildren, Amanda Harman, Zachary Harman, Matthew Harman (Zachary Saunders) and Anthony Carlson; and his siblings, Carroll Shipley, Roby Shipley, Linwood Shipley, Norita Shipley and Mary Ellen Winters.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to Frederick Health Hospice or Bethesda United Methodist Church.
