He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy B. Pickeral Goldsmith-Willett and William R. Goldsmith; his stepfather Horace Willett; his daughter Wendy Harding; his stepdaughter Pamela Brennan; and his niece Shannon Ellis-Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Goldsmith; his daughter Susan Ackman (William "Bill"); his stepdaughters, Jennifer George (Benjamin) and Kristine Schoneman (Brian); his grandchildren, Madeline Ackman, Emily Ackman, Kyle Harding, Christopher Burridge (Jemma), Bradley Burridge, Andrew Schrinel, Trevor Goodrich and Kaylyn Goodrich; his sisters, Elaine Vick (Gary), Carol Ann Smith (Charles) and Robin Huggins (Giles); and his nephews, Dwight Vick and Nicholas Ellis (Chrissy).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in honor of William R. Goldsmith.
