It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Clarence Alphonso McDowney of District Heights, Maryland, who passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley McDowney Sr. and Gertrude Mason McDowney; and his siblings, Mary Alice, Little Gertie, Curtis, Isabelle, Yvonne, Wesley, Charles, Walter, Abe, Emmanuel, Abraham and William.
He is survived by: his daughter Nakisha Ashanta McDowney; his son-in-law Nathan Edward Smith, Jr.; his grandchildren, Tymeka McDowney, Alexus Parker, James Norman III, Jamisha Norman, DanaJuar Mcdowney, Phoenix-Justice Smith and Egypt-Adorn Smith; his siblings, Rev. Welford McDowney and Mary Wyetta Simms; his sisters-in-law, Beulah McDowney, Elizabeth McDowney, Jeanette McDowney, Louise McDowney and Virginia McDowney; and his close friend Lelia Dais. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
