He is survived by: his wife Carol Reed Ayers; his children, Robert David Ayers, Tami Joy Scherr (Michael Lee Scherr) and Frank Matthew Ayers; his grandchildren, Jesse M. Scherr and Jennifer M. Scherr; and his brother Charles Ayers.
