He was predeceased by: his grandson Garrett L. Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Sandra L. Nelson; his children, Gwen R. Nelson (Tommy), Deborah A. Ribb (Paul) and Michael S. Nelson (Amanda); his grandchildren, Riley N. McWilliams, Austin J. Nelson, Ethan M. McWilliams, Ryan M. Nelson and Evan S. Nelson; and his siblings, Wayne Nelson, Cathy Rinker and Larry Nelson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at http://www.stjude.org.
