“Hello: Sometimes, when you think of someone, you should take action. That applies to me because Joe came to mind a couple years ago, and I did nothing to contact him. Now all I can do is offer my condolences. My name is Bob Wood and I served with Joe on the USS Chevalier in 1967 and 68. We went to Viet Nam together. I remember his round face, big smile and his engaging personality. The whole ship enjoyed his drumming and sense of humor. We spent hours talking about going home. God bless you.”
