He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Evelyn E. Sauerwald; his children, Janet M. Zappardino (Craig) and Mark P. Sauerwald (Patty); his grandchildren, Lauren Witte, Anthony Zappardino (Abby), Lisa Sauerwald (Ryan) and Todd Sauerwald (Jessica); and his great grandchildren, Wyatt and Adlee Witte.
