He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lemmon Smith and Doris Belle Manning; his brother Forrest Smith; and his sister-in-law Samia Smith. He is survived by: his wife Jo Anne Smith (Hedges); his daughter Andrea Busch (Smith); his former wife Carol Reed (Campbell); his children, James Smith and Stephanie Smith; his brother Freely Smith; and his sister-in-law Ann Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any honorariums be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or Smithville United Methodist Church.
