He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Francis Steedman and Kathryn G. Steedman (Van Order); his brothers, Harry "Van" Steedman and Francis "Fran" Steedman; his parents-in-law, William "Bill" B. Ewing and Jane Spies Ewing; and his brothers-in-law, Frank Johnson and James "Jimmy" Andrew.

He is survived by: his wife Cindy Steedman (Ewing); his daughter Emily Steedman; his son-in-law Sean Smith; and his sister Mary Cummings. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
