She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Johnson and Julia Ann Johnson (Graham); and her nephew Dequan White. She is survived by: her son Gene B. St. Val, Jr. (Staphany); her siblings, Edna Parson (Nate), Moses Johnson (Ashley), Priscilla Holbrook (James), Virginia Parker (Thomas) and Joseph Johnson, Jr.; and her friends, Cleo Walker of North Carolina and Ardela Deal of Salisbury, MD.. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended relatives.

Her professional journey included roles at Kmart, Dove Pointe, and Epilepsy Foundation, where she provided compassionate residential care.
