He is survived by: his children, Richard Hankerson, Jr. (Aneetra Lynn), Victoria Satchell (Donald) and Vernon Hankerson; and his siblings, Mozelle McDowell, Jake Hankerson (Phyllis), Rosalee Johnson, Ethel Mae Copes, Roger Hankerson (Sharon), Alfred Hankerson, Harvey Hankerson, Ernest Hankerson (Lisa), Lorraine Hankerson, Lottie Hankerson and Lawrence Hankerson (Angie). He is also survived by six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
