It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phillip Ates (Edgewater, Maryland), who passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Phillip may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Ates (Tish). He is survived by: his children, Robin Kirkley (Earle), Dana McAnney (Neil), James Randall "Randy" Ates (Julie) and Laura Pautler (Mike); his sisters, Anne Drescher (Bobby) and Linda Moran (Marty); and his close friend Wilma Richards. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
