He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest Montgomery and Violet Jones Montgomery. He is survived by : his wife Ruthann Patrick Montgomery; his son Derek Montgomery; his grandchildren, Morgan Montgomery and Ophelia Montgomery; his sisters, Gloria Massengill (Alfred), Gail Frazier (David), Gilda Anderson (David) and Gena Vaughan (Felix); and his brother-in-law Dave Patrick (Lorna). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to "Vietnam Veterans of America" and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
