He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry J. McGroerty and Phyllis Murray McGroerty; his wife Sheila J. Bower McGroerty; his son Joey Bower; and his niece Melissa McGroerty Fisher.
He is survived by: his son Daniel McGroerty of Newark, DE; his grandsons, Hunter Bower and Gene Plank; and his siblings, Michael McGroerty (Karen) of Seaford, DE, Sharon Hight (John) of Cape May, NJ, Thomas McGroerty (Elaine) of Middletown, DE, Mary McDonald (Matthew) of Huntington Valley, PA, Harry McGroerty of Riverton, NJ, Phyllis Hennessy (John) of Coatesville, PA, Helen Wright (Robert) of Lower Gwynedd, PA, John McGroerty (Jenna) of Eliot, ME and Jeanette Hildwine (Fran) of Nottingham, PA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church (454 Bow St, Elkton, MD 21921). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at the Gilpin Manor Memorial Park (198 Appleton Rd, Elkton, MD 21921).
