He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Hellstern and Hermine Hellstern (Angler); his wife Delorse M. Hellstern; and his sons, Christopher Hellstern and Max Hellstern Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Deborah DeMatt (Neil) of Elkton, MD and Eric Hellstern (Karen) of North East, MD.. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
