He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Mary (Hain); his parents, Frances E. Bastress (Sellman) and Arthur M. Bastress; and his brother Reverend Monsignor Arthur W. Bastress. He is survived by: his siblings, Joan Marie Bastress, I, H. M., Paul C. Bastress (Beverly) and Robert L. Bastress (Diane); his sons, Gregory J. Bastress and Stephen G. Bastress; his daughter-in-law Victoria Bastres; his daughters, Anne T. Burris and Jean D. Moore; his son-in-law Arthur L Moore; his grandchildren, George Buettner III, Amanda Lanosz, Ivar Bastress, Jena Bastress, Joseph Burriss, Tiger Bastress and Lorelai Bastress; and his great grandchildren, Gage, Carlee and Carl, Jr. (CJ).
