We bid farewell to Shirley J Smith of Flintstone, Maryland, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on September 2, 2025 at the age of 91. Shirley touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Stokes and Margaret Schurg Stokes; her daughters, Linda Shepherd and Karen Vanmeter; her grandson David Vanmeter; and her siblings, James, William, Upton, Kenneth Stokes and Dora Ann Bishop.
She is survived by: her son Jim Smith of Artemas, PA; her grandchildren, Jeannie Pryor of Artemas, PA, Garry Roberts, Jr. of Little Orleans, MD and Charles Vanmeter of Cumberland, MD; her great grandchildren, Jacob Pryor of Alaska and Linsey Pryor of Artemas, PA; her great great grandchild Nora Shepherd of Artemas, PA; and her siblings, Janet Stokes, Jeannette Miller, Patricia Leitzen, Robert Wayne Stokes and Irvin Stokes. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's name can be made to American Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association, Fairview Christian Church, and Little Orleans and Flintstone Fire Department.
