He was predeceased by: his parents, William Theodore Starkey and Thelma Catherine Starkey (Wright). He is survived by: his wife Linda Starkey; his daughters, Melissa (John Hahn III), Shannon Heim and Catherine Thomas; his grandchildren, John Hahn IV, Austin Hahn, Brandon Heim, Nicolas Thomas and Abby Thomas; his great grandchildren, Brantley Heim, Dalton Heim and Bailey Heim; his brother Dale Starkey (Cathy); and his nephews, Brian Starkey and Michael Starkey. He is also survived by other loving family members and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at 1114 Baldwin Mill Rd, Jarrettsville, MD 21084. A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
