It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Clarence Fenwick Smith of Frederick, Maryland, who passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Dr. William Meredith Smith and Ruth Edna Holtz Smith; his wife Mary Russell Hendrickson Smith; his sons, Ames R. Smith, David M. Smith and Peter F. Smith; his grandson John David Smith; and his siblings, Dorothy Clark, Ruth Williams, Helen Muse, Anne Fisher and William M. Smith Jr..

He is survived by : his son Philip H. Smith (Beth); his daughters-in-law, Sheila Gallin, Dorothy O. Smith and Cathy Williams (Larry); his grandchildren, Michael F. Smith (Mindy), Courtney Smith, Stephen W. Smith (Christina), Dorothy S. Ohl (Malcolm), Jeremy Smith (Sara) of Peter, F. X, Amanda Smith and Matthew Smith; his sister-in-law Louise Talley; and his close friend Ed Schoder. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home-Frederick (1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (118 E 2nd St, Frederick, MD 21701).
