He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Sr. Heckert and Mary Heckert (Eicholtz). He is survived by : his siblings, Leslie Atanasoff (Roland), Elena Spitzer (Clark) and Greg Heckert; his nephews, William Crooks and Aaron Spitzer; and his niece Jessica Heckert.
