He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee H. Scheffel and Annie M. Scheffel (Miller); and his siblings, Alvin, Jonas, David and Catharine King (Scheffel).
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Scheffel (Briskey); his son Douglas Schiffel (Elizabeth Johnston Scheffel) of Concord, MA; his grandsons, Samuel, John and William; and his brother Paul Scheffel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
