Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes (106 E Church St, Frederick, MD 21701). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Independent Hose Company #1 (310 Baughmans Lane, Frederick, Maryland, 21702) in memory and honor of their brother John "Sunshine" Leroy Schmidt Sr.
