He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Stanley Farring Carpenter and Jessie Virginia Main Carpenter; and his brothers, Bernard Farring Carpenter, Ralph Eugene Carpenter, Roger LeRoy Carpenter, James Lee Carpenter and Clyde Richard Carpenter.
He is survived by: his children, Carol Riggles, Robert "Chip" Carpenter Jr. (Karen), Karen Carpenter (Glenn Huntington) and Eric Carpenter (Courtney); his grandchildren, Lauren Layman, Lindsey Pippy (Jesse), Kelsey Sammons (Logan), Ray Riggles (Maggie), Logan Carpenter and Collins Carpenter; and his great grandchildren, Bane McDaniel, Eden Tripplaar, Evae Tripplaar, Liam Pippy, Noah Pippy, Jaxon Sammons, Rhett Sammons and Lily Riggles.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Stauffer Funeral Home (1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
