He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl W. H. Mercer and Dorothy Toms Mercer; his siblings, Earl "Sonny" Mercer, Jr. and Beverly Maggitti (Gabriel); his siblings-in-law, Ann Page, Shirley Wisner, Donald Lenhart, Garnett Wisner, Marshall Wisner and Meredith Wisner; and his niece Teresa Brickhouse.
He is survived by: his wife Fern Poole Mercer; his stepson J. Edward Poole (Vicki); his children, Michael and Megan Poole; his stepdaughter Jayne Logan; his foster daughter Joyce Keil (Allen); his siblings-in-law, Mary Ellen Mercer, Ella Lenhart, Joan Wisner, Janet Wisner, Nancy Wisner, Edward Page, Kenneth Wisner, Fred Wisner, Wayne Wisner, Sr. and Glenn Wisner; his sibling's children, Angela Clelan (Richard), Scott Page (Joy), Sarah Moxley (Kraig), Mark Maggitti (Leona), Gabe Maggitti, Jr., Theresa Maggitti, Karen Green (Paul), Terry Brynes (Jerry), Timothy Lenhart (Mary), Gwen Whitmore (Ronald), Jeff Wisner (Teresa), Aaron Wisner, Crystal Wiles (Scott), Wayne Wisner, Jr. (Christine) and Tony Wisner; and his close friends, Ed, Wanda Burnap, Jerry and La Rue Hammond of Ted's.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Frederick Church of the Brethren (201 Fairview Ave, Frederick, MD 21701). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Ted was a member of Frederick Church of the Brethren for over 35 years; therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the church at the above address.
