He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Mechan; and his parents, Henry Mechan and Kathleen "Kay" Mechan. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer (Jeff Unitt), Michael (Monica Bolton) and Kim (Lance Kirkpatrick); his siblings, Kathleen Mechan-Harley and Tommy; and his grandchildren, John Mervinsky, David Hoffman, Matt Mervinsky, Jacob Bolton, Ricky Azaleas, Aidan Kirkpatrick and Kayleigh Kirkpatrick.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home & Community Center (9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in remembrance of Bill.
