He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanton Reed Friend and Edna Virginia Friend (Frantz); and his brother Reed Eugene Friend. He is survived by: his wife Louise Lee (Peters); his sons, Brian Edward Friend and Remington Lee Friend (Florence); his grandchildren, Hunter Lee Friend (Kelsey), Natasha Lee DeMars (Jonathan), Trinity Rae Friend, Prudence Louise, Esther Ellen and Harrison Hugh Friend; his great grandchildren, Le'Ella, Amayah Friend, Aries, Ajax and Athena DeMars; and his sisters, Mary Jane Park and Anne Schnackenberg.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Asher Glade Church (16363 Friendsville Rd, Friendsville, MD 21531).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Hugh's memory either to Cindy's Fund in Garrett County, or St. Jude's Hospital, or to a cancer help center in your area.
