He was predeceased by: his father Junior Lee "Crow" Yates; and his brothers-in-law, John Ayers and Steve Shockey. He is survived by: his mother Betty Jean Yates (Winebrenner) of Frostburg; his wife Nancy Ann Yates (Alkire); his sons, David Yates (Kara) and Derek Yates (Jenn Staggs); his grandchildren, Alex of Frostburg, Kailyn of Frostburg, Cody, Emmalee, Kylyn and Brenton; his sister Sandy Ayers of Lavale; and his sister-in-law Vicky Shockey of Lonaconing.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Michael J. Fox, Foundation for Parkinson's research. Danny lived with Parkinson's disease in recent years facing each day with grit, humor, and a deep belief in helping others.
