He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Kathleen Stephenson and Mack Haywood Stephenson; and his sister Joy Stephenson. He is survived by: his wife Gayle Metcalf Stephenson; his daughter Kathryn Hoke (Mike); his grandchildren, Charlotte, Tommy and Connor; his daughter Annie Tobin (Rob); his grandsons, Isaac and Dean; his daughter Alison Klima (Matt); his granddaughters, Eleanor and Josephine; his daughter Maggie Frantz; his sibling Terry MacIntyre (Ken); his nephews, Kevin and Danny; his sister Debbie Opsal (Phil); his nephew Alex; and his niece Jessica.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gary's name to Gilchrist Hospice (https://gilchristcares.org).
