He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Herbig and Mary Herbig; his wife Helen; and his children, Arthur John Herbig, Jr. and Jane Ann Herbig.

He is survived by: his daughter Gail Paulson (David); his granddaughter Melanie Douglass (James); his great grandchildren, Helena Douglass and Cora Douglass; his niece Lynn Catone (James); and his nephews, Kenneth Seltzer (Kelli) and Robert Seltzer (Janice).

During the Pandemic, while living with his daughter and son-in-law he digitized his collection of digital and print photos, negatives, and slides.
