Carroll Miller Ficklin Obituary

Carroll Miller Ficklin, 72, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He was a loving husband and a devoted father to his beloved three children. Carroll was born on August 30, 1947 in Washington, DC to Dorsey William Ficklin and Fannie Settle Ficklin. Those who had the pleasure to know Carroll may remember him best for his love of life.

He was known for his friendliness, his quick wit, his infectious smile and his kind, compassionate spirit. Carroll made everyone feel special and was a ray of sunshine to many. He was also a hard-working man who accomplished a tremendous amount of his goals in life and always took great pride in his work. In his free time he enjoyed all things sports, beach and politics, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Carroll was preceded in death by his father, Dorsey, his mother, Fannie, and his brother, William. He is survived by his wife, Louise Amidon Ficklin, his three children, Debra Ann (Debbie) Ficklin and her husband James Hawfield, Richard Bryan (Ricky) Ficklin and his wife, Joanna Ficklin, and Sharon Alayne (Shari) Liapis and her husband, Michael Liapis; his six grandchildren, Melissa Ann Hagen and her husband Daniel Hagen, Stephanie Psaroudis, Ryan and Justin Ficklin, and Stratton and Braydon Liapis; and his two great-grandchildren, Lexus and Bryce Hagen.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 6th, 2019 at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd, Barnesville, MD 20838. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Saturday December 7th, 2019 at Tri County Baptist Church, 7821 Damascus Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20882. Interment to follow at 1:30 p.m. at All Souls Cemetery, 11401 Brink Rd, Germantown, MD 20876.
